Social Workers Being Social!

The Social Work Student Organization has endeavored to host more social events in an effort to promote self-care for first and second year students. The Social Work Student Organization held happy hours at Top of the Hill and Kildares in August and September to promote relationship building among students. Often UNC social work students notice a distinct separation between first and second years due to the vastly different schedules. Additionally, social work students were out in full force on Thursday October 6th at The Lodge! Partnering with the School of Law and the School of Nursing, the School of Social Work Student Organization organized a “mixer” event- “Sue You, Soothe You, or Suture You”. Mingling with other professional schools provided social work students with the opportunity to let loose, get to know some new faces, and take a break from impending midterms. Graduate school is a balancing act. Taking time for self-care and fun is imperative for survival. Two years goes by faster than you know it! So take some time and be social with your fellow social workers!
