Notes from the admissions office – February 2014

For many of you who have applied to our 2 year Full-Time or Advanced Standing programs, the stress of applying to graduate school is over. You’ve spent countless hours perfecting your personal statement, studying for the GRE, and you managed to get all of your application materials submitted by the deadline. You may be feeling a little like this….

Now, the wait begins. I can remember being in that situation a few years ago myself…..it was definitely not my favorite part of the process (but it did force me to work on being more patient!). Now that things are taken care of on your end, the admissions committee is steadily reviewing applications. We received a substantial number of applications for our Full-Time and Advanced Standing programs and I can assure you that reading  applications is not an easy task! For those of you applying to the Distance Education programs, you still have until February 11th (by 11:59pm EST) to get those applications submitted!

For others of you, you are beginning your search about graduate school. You want to find the perfect program for you and it can be an overwhelming process to decide how and where you want to spend the next 2 years of your life. Luckily, there are several opportunities for you to learn more about the MSW programs at UNC. Here is a list of our February recruitment events:

  • MSW Information Session – February 7th (2-4:30pm), UNC School of Social Work (learn more and register here)

The information session would give you a wonderful opportunity to meet current students and faculty in our program, learn more about the field of social work and find out about our admissions process and financial aid opportunities.

  • UNC Pembroke Career Expo – February 12th (10am-1pm)

General career and graduate school fair for seniors of all disciplines at UNCP.

We would love to have you attend these events and hope we get an opportunity to share information about out top-notch program here at the UNC SSW. If you have any questions about these events please contact me at amcmillan@unc.edu.
